Still Hopeful

It's time to sign-up for Yuletide again. There's just a little time left to add thirtysomething to your offers and/or requests. It's a great series, as you all know. We still have just two stories at AO3. Let's try for three.

Yes, it's me again, back to try to convince you all to sign up and write us all some thirtysomething fanfic. This time I'm pushing a low pressure gift exchange that is especially suited to this fandom: purimgifts. We have five amazing women characters to choose from, more if you include their moms and their kids. We have two main characters, Melissa and Michael Steadman, who are Jewish. We have one character who is both female and Jewish! No evil viziers, but you can't have everything.

A multifandom ficlet/art exchange focusing on female or Jewish characters,
and also some evil viziers.
Sign ups end on the night of Feb 3rd.
Rules, FAQs, and sign ups here!

Even if you have already signed up, you could consider editing your offers and/or your requests to include this fandom. I hope to see you there!

There is still time to sign up for Yuletide, or to change your offers--or your requests--to include thirtysomething. Either way, feel free to snag the banner or the icon.

And, if anyone is interested in starting a rewatch, I am here, Season 1 DVDs in hand. I love this show. Hoping for more fanfic for thirtysomething is the main reason I keep signing up for Yuletide.

current mood: hopeful

As you probably already know, thirtysomething is once again an accepted and nominated fandom at Yuletide. Sign-ups close at 8 pm est today so it's not too late to add this rare fandom to your offer list or even your requests. We have only two stories in the AO3 to date. Maybe we can make it to three this year!

As always, if anyone is interested in starting up a re-watch, I have the DVDs in hand and icons at the ready.

New: Five Thanksgivings Gary Shepherd Never Celebrated

I didn't sign up for Yuletide this year due to family issues, but I was lucky enough to get to write this pinch hit for furies. I can't remember when I had so much fun writing a story. However, I could not have done it without the help of an awesome beta, who went by "mikeneko" in the Yuletide chat room. If any of you are that wonderful person, thank you again.

I'm feeling so inspired, I might even try to write the other unfilled request. Heck, maybe I'll try the "winter" prompt that was posted here a couple of years ago, although it would have to be winter in California since I know zip about winter in Philadelphia. Anyway, on the off chance that any of you didn't see it, and because this is the only thirtysomething fanfiction community anywhere, I'm posting a link to my story here.

Title: Five Thanksgivings Gary Shepherd Never Celebrated
Author: wendelah1
Rating: Gen
Warnings: Well, none that aren't from canon.
Characters: Susannah Hart, Hope Murdoch Steadman, Melissa Steadman, Ellyn Warren, Nancy Krieger Weston.
Summary: Beginning with the first Thanksgiving after the series finale, the story gives us brief glimpses into the lives of Hope, Nancy, Melissa, Ellyn, and Susannah through the next five years, as they adjust to the changes in their lives.

Five Thanksgivings Gary Shepherd Never Celebrated

As you may have noticed, there is not a lot of fanfiction being written for this series (hint, hint, nudge, nudge). I did find an active discussion mailing list in the course of researching my story, which I dutifully joined, but they don't read fanfiction, nor were they interested in doing an organized re-watch. Since the season one DVDs are out and season two is now available for presale, I have to ask: is anyone out there interested in watching the series from the beginning? Say, one episode a week?
